Seminar Registration Closes January 31
Time is running out to register for the Metropolitan Region’s seminar Spring Into Stitching.
The seminar will be held April 12-14, 2013 at the Hamilton Park Hotel and Conference Center in Florham Park, NJ. Registration closes January 31, 2013.

DMC is running a Needlework Memories Contest with a grand prize of a week-long trip for two to Paris. All you have to do is describe a DMC-related memory in 250 words or less. The deadline is January 31, 2013.

Monmouth Chapter Bear Workshop
Monmouth Chapter invites us to learn to make a teddy bear at a workshop with Diane Lane Johnson.

Urgent Call for Kissing Pillows
The Evergreen Chapter of EGA has issued an urgent call for help in providing 4200+ Kissing Pillows by October to an Army unit deploying from the Ft.Lewis/McCord AFB area. They feel they can supply 2000, but need the rest of us to help with the final 2200.
Sue and I are both stitching pillows, and will collect any that you stitch and send them off. Evergreen Chapter has said that they will accept unfinished pillows, which are the most economical to ship, so all we’re asking is that you stitch the tops. If you have patriotic fabric to contribute for the backs, that would be great, but Sue has offered to stitch the pillows together for us.
Please bring any pillows you’ve stitched to the September Skylands meeting or make other arrangements to get them to either Sue or me, as we need to ship unfinished pillows by September 15.
This is an easy and much-appreciated outreach activity. What I did was to buy a 15×18-inch piece of aida cloth at Joann’s, which gave me enough for six 6×6 pieces for pillows, with enough left over for bookmarks. I’ve found that these are great to stitch while watching TV in the evening, when the light or your focus may not be quite what you need for working on more complex projects.
I will post the instruction sheet in the Resources section of our site for those who may not have it already.
If anybody is planning to stitch pillows, could you let Sue or I know, so we know what to expect?

April Meeting Reminder
Skylands Stitchers meets this Sunday, 1 April, at 1:30 pm in our regular location, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Succasunna.
The program will be part two of the bead embroidery project, the beaded button/pin. Please bring the kit you received at the February meeting along with the handout.

February 2012 Meeting Reminder
Skylands Stitchers meets this Sunday 5 February 1:30 – 4pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Succasunna.
Jill will be teaching bead embroidery to those who signed up in advance. Kits will be provided with everything you need except for scissors. Oops, just realized that I haven’t done a final calculation of the cost, but it will be minimal because the board managed to come up with all the beads you’ll be using from our stashes. So I’m guessing around $5.
Hospitality will be provided by Dorna and Molly.
